Health awareness session on risk factors of cardiac diseases

In response to the Bedouin community’s request/need, a health awareness session on risk factors and prevention of cardiac diseases was conducted by Dr. Housein Ismaiel from the American University of Beirut Medical Center and coordinated by Ms. Aline Ghazar Haroutunian in the Municipality of Bar-Elias, Bekaa for 15 women from the community. The interactive session, in addition to the Questions/Answers and sharing experiences sections, entailed training participants on reading salt amounts on packed, ready-made and canned foods. Participants were also provided with booklets on risk factors of cardiac diseases, including a table of salt content of common foods.
