Producing and Launching the CHVs manual

The modules and materials used for the training of the CHVs were compiled, reviewed, edited and produced as a manual in April 2011. Topics covered in the manual included the followings: First Aid, Family Planning, Reproductive Health and Maternal and Child care.

On May 12, 2011 a launching ceremony of the CHVs manual was held at the Chtaura Park Hotel in Bekaa, in the presence of 40 participants comprising of the mayors and municipal members of 9 municipalities in Bekaa, the directors and staff of 5 primary health care centers, local CBOs, the CHVs and Dr. Nasser Yassin and Ms. Aline Ghazar Haroutunian from the OPU at FHS-AUB. The opening speech was given by Dr. Yassin, who presented an overview of the project since it’s initiation in 2007 till date, highlighting the achievements and challenges faced during the process. Then speeches followed, and Ms. Ghazar, Mr. Mohammad Baalbaki (President of Islamic Benevolent Association), Ms. Rojana Breij (a CHV) and Shekh Haissam Touaimy (director of a local CBO) took the floor respectively. Throughout the reception that followed the ceremony, participants in general and the main stakeholders in specific expressed their appreciation and provided positive feedback as regards to the CHVs manual.
